We make WebNewBiz, so we will say plainly where Wix is the better choice, and show the prices, features and trade-offs that decide it for a small business.
This comparison is written by WebNewBiz, so we sell one of the two products in it. Read it with that in mind. It is also the reason we will tell you plainly where Wix is the better choice, because a comparison that never admits that is not worth your time. Wix has been around since 2006, is far bigger than we are, and has a huge app market and a great deal of design freedom. WebNewBiz is younger and built around AI generation, with the website, online store and CRM as one connected system. Prices were checked in October 2026.
If you want to place every element yourself, add a specialist app for almost anything, and pay as little as possible for a website with a store, Wix is the safer choice. It is mature, well documented, and its cheaper plans include more than most people expect.
If you would rather describe what you want and have the AI do the building and the editing, and you want enquiries and store customers to land in a CRM that reads them for you, WebNewBiz is built for exactly that. You pay more for our CRM plans, and you get a smaller ecosystem in exchange for a more joined-up one.
Wix. Wix's AI website builder starts with a chat. You describe the business, your goals and the style you like, and it generates a site with pages, copy, images and the business tools that fit, such as a store, bookings or a blog. It is free to start and does not ask for a card. In January 2026 Wix launched Wix Harmony, which puts an AI agent called Aria next to its drag-and-drop editor, and Wix says you do not need to buy AI credits to use it.
WebNewBiz. You describe the business in plain language and the AI drafts a complete website, with pages, layout and copy, ready to edit in the browser. Or pick a template and let the AI fill it with your content.
Either way, the first draft is a starting point. Neither AI knows your prices, your opening hours or what your premises look like, so budget an hour or two for swapping generic lines for real facts and stock images for your own photographs. Our guide to building a website with AI walks through that pass.
Wix has always been a drag-and-drop editor, and a very good one. In Harmony you can ask Aria for a change in words, from a new colour palette to a redesigned page, then drag elements around for pixel-level control. The classic Wix Editor is still available, and Wix Studio sits above both for designers who want custom CSS and code. One caveat: at the time of writing, Wix's help centre still describes Harmony as rolling out gradually and in English only, with some features (multilingual sites, the CMS, custom code) not yet available.
WebNewBiz is chat-first. The AI Copilot changes copy, sections, pages, design and images when you ask, on every plan. From Starter upwards you also get Design Studio, a visual editor for when you would rather click than type.
If you care about exact placement, Wix gives you more freedom than we do. If you would rather type "move the reviews above the prices and shorten the heading" and have it done, that is what WebNewBiz is designed around. Aria has narrowed the gap, so give both the same request and judge the result.
Wix's store starts on the Core plan, which lets you accept payments, list up to 50,000 products, recover abandoned carts, sell subscriptions, and sell through channels such as Google Shopping and TikTok. Some pieces are tiered: automated sales tax starts on Business (100 transactions a month, 500 on Business Elite), dropshipping through Modalyst is capped at 25 products on Core and 250 on Business, and memberships sold through Wix's Pricing Plans carry a transaction fee of 4% on Core, 2% on Business and none on Business Elite. The Light plan cannot take payments.
Our online store starts on Starter: a cart and secure checkout, card payments through Stripe plus Apple Pay and Google Pay, running on WooCommerce, Shopify or our own engine. Lite has no store.
Wix is ahead on breadth: marketplace selling, loyalty programmes, gift cards and tax automation are built in. We differ on the join: on Growth and above, every buyer becomes a CRM contact automatically, so the store and your customer records are one system. For a large catalogue sold across several marketplaces, Wix (or Shopify) is the stronger fit today.
Wix includes more customer management than people expect: a contacts list; Wix Inbox, which brings site chat, form submissions and messages from Facebook, Instagram and Gmail into one place; lead-capture forms (4 on Light, 10 on Core, 25 on Business, 75 on Business Elite); an automation builder that pairs a trigger with an action; Pipelines for moving leads, quotes and invoices through stages; and invoices and price quotes. Email marketing gives you 200 emails a month free; sending more needs a separate email marketing plan, as site plans do not add capacity.
Our AI CRM comes with Growth and above. Site enquiries land in it automatically and store buyers become contacts. The AI reads and scores incoming leads so you know which to answer first, and you get deals, tasks, bookings, invoices that chase themselves and the option to connect your own email. Growth includes 3,000 contacts and 3 team members, Pro 10,000 contacts, Ultimate unlimited.
If you need a tidy contacts list, a shared inbox and a few automations, Wix gives you that for less money. WebNewBiz earns its higher tier when lead handling is a real job in your business and you want the AI to triage enquiries and chase payments, rather than building every rule yourself. Our piece on website builders with a CRM built in covers what to look for.
Google ranks pages, not platforms, so either can get you found. The difference is the tooling, and here Wix is ahead. Its SEO tools come with every plan: editable titles and descriptions, custom page addresses, structured data, an editable robots.txt, an automatic sitemap, bulk 301 redirects, Google Search Console and Business Profile connections, Semrush keyword research, and a tool that tracks how visible your site is in AI assistants.
On WebNewBiz, basic SEO tools arrive with Growth, and advanced SEO with a full site audit on Pro. Pro also adds email campaigns, social media marketing and Website Booster for speed and CDN delivery. Ultimate adds an AI chatbot, a phone system with its own number, AI Mockups, AI Video and SalesKit.
On SEO features alone, Wix gives you more for less. Our marketing tools make more sense when you want campaigns, social posting and the CRM working from one contact list.
Here is a full year in each case, in US dollars. Wix figures are its US list prices on yearly billing (Light $17, Core $29, Business $39 and Business Elite $159 a month), paid upfront, before tax; prices vary by country and monthly billing costs more. WebNewBiz figures assume monthly billing, $1 for the first month and then the normal price. Our yearly billing is cheaper than shown.
| What you need | WebNewBiz, year 1 / year 2 | Wix at list price, per year |
|---|---|---|
| A simple site, no selling | Lite: $100 / $108 | Light: $204 |
| A site with an online store | Starter: $320 / $348 | Core: $348 (Business $468 for automated sales tax) |
| Site, store and CRM | Growth: $870 / $948 | Core or Business: $348 to $468; email beyond 200 a month is extra |
| Top tier | Pro: $1,640 / $1,788; Ultimate: $2,190 / $2,388 | Business Elite: $1,908 |
Three things move these numbers. Introductory offers: when we checked in October 2026, Wix's plans page showed a time-limited 50% discount on the first yearly term of selected plans. Such offers apply to the first term only, so budget year two at list price; our $1 first month is the equivalent on our side. Domains: Wix's yearly plans include a free first-year domain voucher, and we include a free first-year domain from Growth; renewal is yours after that. Card fees: the payment processor takes a cut of each sale on both platforms.
In plain terms: for a simple site we are cheaper, with a store we are roughly level, and with a CRM, Wix's Core or Business plan costs less than our Growth plan. Growth buys the AI CRM, backups and a team of three; the question is whether they save you more time than the difference. Full detail is on our pricing page.

Wix's biggest advantage is everything around the builder: over 2,000 templates and an App Market covering marketing, selling, bookings, events, media and communication. If you need something specialised, such as restaurant ordering, hotel reservations, online courses or event ticketing, Wix probably has a native tool or an app for it, plus freelancers who know the platform well.
WebNewBiz is young, and our ecosystem and community are much smaller. What we offer instead is that the core pieces come from one place: every plan includes hosting, SSL, a full WordPress CMS, mobile optimisation, themes and templates, and the AI tools on higher plans work from the same site and contact list. For agencies we offer white-label; Wix's nearest equivalent is Wix Studio.
Wix offers 24/7 customer care on paid plans, priority care on Business Elite, and a very large help centre. We offer 24/7 chat support on every plan, but with a smaller user base there are fewer forum answers, so expect to ask us directly.
Wix's help centre is clear: as a hosted platform, your site must run on Wix's servers and cannot be exported to another host. You can export data, including contacts as a CSV file (up to 50,000 at a time) and store products as a CSV, and a domain can be connected from elsewhere or transferred.
WebNewBiz is hosted too, and the same rule applies: your text, images, contacts and domain travel, and the layout gets rebuilt wherever you go next. Do not assume the WordPress underneath means a one-click move to another host. There is no minimum contract or cancellation fee, you keep access to the end of the period you paid for, and after that the account stays available read-only so you can take your content. Your own connected domain can be pointed anywhere, and a domain registered through us stays yours and can be transferred out.
On either platform, register the domain in your own account and keep copies of your text, photographs and contact list as you go.

Is WebNewBiz better than Wix?
It depends on how you like to work. Wix is better for design freedom, specialist apps, a deep online store and SEO tools on cheap plans. WebNewBiz is better if you want the AI to build and edit the site by chat, with the website, store and an AI CRM as one connected system.
Is WebNewBiz cheaper than Wix?
For a simple site, yes: Lite is $9 a month against $17 for Wix Light on yearly billing. With a store the two are level at $29. Once you add a CRM, our Growth plan at $79 costs more than Wix Core or Business, which include basic contacts tools.
Does Wix have an AI website builder?
Yes. You describe your business in a chat and it generates a site with pages, copy and images. Since January 2026, Wix Harmony has combined its AI agent, Aria, with drag-and-drop editing.
Can I move my Wix site to WebNewBiz?
Not as a file, because Wix's help centre says its sites cannot be exported to another host. It is a rebuild: export your contacts and products as CSV files, copy your text and images, keep a list of your page addresses, let our AI draft the new site, then point your domain at it.
Which is better for SEO, WebNewBiz or Wix?
Both can rank, because Google ranks pages rather than platforms. Wix's SEO toolkit is more mature and comes with every plan. On WebNewBiz, SEO tools start on Growth, with advanced SEO and a site audit on Pro.
Does WebNewBiz have a free plan?
No. Every plan costs $1 for the first month, then the normal monthly price, and you can cancel at any time. Wix has a free plan with Wix branding and no custom domain.
The fairest test is the one you run yourself. Write one honest paragraph about your business, give it to Wix's AI builder and to our AI Website Builder, and compare what comes back. Wix's free plan costs nothing to try; ours costs $1 for the first month and you can cancel whenever you like. If you want to see what we would build for you, start for $1.
